Two artists/parents/grandparents/suburbanites who wanted to take time off to travel. We sold our house and decided to do just that. After all, the only thing holding you back, is fear and common sense.

Pedaling around the town

Today we slept in a bit then rented bicycles to cruise around Reykjavik. It started raining as soon as we set off - just a normal day. Raincoats, pants and boots are a fashion statement here. We hit some landmarks - the Pearl, with a fantastic view of the city from the observation deck, the old harbor, the whale museum (free with the whale watching tour from Reykjavik Sailors) and The Sun Voyager sculpture. The bike paths go all along the coast and harbor - a very bike-able city.

This is at the whale museum. The whale replicas are displayed actual size - it's kind of amazing how big they are. This is a humpback whale - like the one's we saw on our whale watching tour.

This is Solfarid or The Sun Voyager created in 1990. It's a huge stainless-steel sculpture of a boat by Jón Gunnar Árnason, set on granite beside the sea. When we drove by it the other day there were tons of kids playing on it.
